Selma Rán Lima

Selma Rán Lima is an Icelandic/Cape Verdian actress born in 1996.  She graduated from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2024. Selma has been acting on stage from the age of thirteen, gaining most of her experience from the amateur theaters in Reykjavík. She majored in theater in high-school, where she also participated in musical productions and singing competitions. Before attending the Arts Academy she studied jazz singing at FÍH, college of music. She plays various instruments and has been expressing herself through music from a very young age, both singing and dancing. Selma practiced ballroom dancing for eight years and street dance for two years. 

In 2020, she was hired to write two songs for the film Uglur (Owls), by Teitur Magnússon, which premiered in 2021.

In 2022, Selma played the lead role in the short film Bókaskipti (Bookswapping), by BergurÁrnason. The short film won first prize in its category at RIFF in 2023.

In 2023, Selma finished a BADC (British Academy of Dramatic Combat) foundation-course.

Selma signed with the National Theater right after her graduation and takes part in two productions within the theater in 2024-2025.
