Ævar Þór Benediktsson

Ævar Þór Benediktsson got his BFA in acting from the Icelandic Academy of the Arts in 2010. In the first four years after graduation he worked at the National Theater as an actor, starring and co-starring in several productions, both plays and musicals. At the same time he wrote and starred in his own TV-series, a science-educational show for children, called Ævar the scientist. Ævar has received numerous awards and acclimations for his work on the TV-show, including four Edda-awards. He is also one of Iceland‘s most popular voice actors.

For the last ten years Ævar has written almost 30 books for children and young adults, becoming one of the most best selling authors of Iceland. He has also received numerous awards and nominations for his work connected to children‘s culture.

Ævar has co-starred in movies such as XL and The County. Some of his acting roles for TV include The Daywatch, Hæ Gosi, Case, The Mayor, World‘s End and My Funeral. For My Funeral Ævar was nominated at the 2021 Edda awards as Best Supporting Actor.
