Almar Blær was born in 1996. He graduated from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in the spring of 2021 and began working at the National Theater later that year, where he will act in the works Kardemommubærinn, Love and Information and As it is in Heaven in the year 2021-2022. Almar has also participated in commercials and films and starred in the film Agnes Joy in 2018. Almar has also been active in the independent theater scene in Iceland and participated in projects such as Ég býð mig fram 3 in 2020 and A few words about me which was shown at the Fringe festival in Reykjavík in 2021.
Almar was nominated for the award Outstanding Young Icelander in 2017 for his contribution to the theater scheene in East Iceland. Almar has a great love for “physical theater” and did an immersion with the theatre group Double Edge Theater in Massachusetts in the autumn of 2017 and has worked on exhibitions that explore the boundaries of theater and dance, e.g. Og svo er nótt directed by Annalísa Hermannsdóttir and Vitranir which was shown in Streitisviti lighthouse in the summer of 2020.
