Hekla Elísabet Aðalsteinsdóttir is a stand up comedian, theater maker, and director. She received her BA in Theater Making from the Icelandic University of the Arts in 2016.
Hekla has been a member of the stand up group Fyndnustu Mínar since 2019. She has performed with them in a variety of places, including The Cellar at the National Theater, Tjarnarbíó, and the Reykjavík City Theater. Fyndnustu Mínar most recently put on a show at the Reykjavík City Theater as a part of their Umbúðalaust program, which won a Gríman award.
Hekla was a main writer on the television series Jarðaförin mín (My Funeral) which aired on Sjónvarp Símans in the spring of 2020. She also was a main writer on the second season Brúðkaupið mitt (My Wedding) which came out in 2022 and was nominated for an Edda award in the category of Best Scripted TV Series of the Year.
In 2020 Hekla directed the comedy theater piece Fullorðin for the Akureyri Theater Company alongside Marta Nordal. Fullorðin ran sold out shows for two years and was subsequently shown in The Cellar at the National Theater in the winter of 2022-2023.
