Vignir Rafn Valþórsson

Vignir Rafn Valthorsson was born in 1978 in Lund, Sweden, but moved young to his native Iceland. Vignir Rafn graduated as an actor from Iceland University of the arts in 2007 and worked extensively in the National Theatre for the first years. Vignir Rafn founded the independent theater group Children of misfortune in 2012 and has directed all the group’s shows since then, among them are Rocky!, Hans Blær, Illska and Bláskjár, and for two of the latter works Vignir was named Director of the Year at the Gríma theatre awards. In total, Vignir Rafn has directed 16 shows in a professional theater with independent groups, Akureyri Theatre Company and the Reykjavík City Theatre. Along with directing projects, Vignir has acted in television and films, including Trapped 2, Black´s Game, Hlemmavideó and Ligeglad, but Vignir was one of the authors of the latter and received the Edda Award as TV show of the year in 2017.
